In times like these, reliable information is vital. Make sure to follow @GovCanHealth for the latest on COVID-19, what you can do to stop its spread and Canada’s public health response to the pandemic.

Canada’s airports are playing a vital role in the COVID-19 response, facilitating the movement of critical cargo shipments. As we come out of the pandemic, Canada will need its airports, as well as a healthy supply chain, to support economic recovery.

New runway maintenance advisory published for April 8 to April 14. Details here: https://t.co/2e9k0tCSjH

It takes a well-oiled machine to receive and unload an airplane full of cargo. The team @SwissportCanada meet a @HainanAirlines flight arriving from Shanghai last week. This aircraft had valuable medical supplies, including masks and nitrile gloves for Canadian healthcare workers

We couldn’t have said it better than @JustinTrudeau.

Supply chain workers are the unsung heroes that keep our shelves and stores stocked, in good days and in bad days. It is more clear than ever how important your work is, so thank you!

Airlines are working to keep vital goods moving around the world, using dedicated cargo aircraft and, more recently, converting passenger aircraft. As Canada’s largest airport and a key facilitator of goods movement, we’re at the ready to help.

Congratulations to @AirCanada on this well-deserved recognition. Their continued efforts to keep cargo flowing during this time support Canadians at home and in frontline jobs, including healthcare and emergency response.

The Gold award in our airlines carrying up to 999,999 tonnes category goes to Air Canada. Congratulations @AirCanada! #ACEAwards20

There are eight airports in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA); two of which provide scheduled passenger service. The two airports, Toronto Pearson International Airport and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, are located within the GTA.

Toronto Pearson International Airport is located 28km (17 miles) northwest of downtown and is served by most major airlines. This is Canada’s largest and busiest airport and is the main hub for Air Canada and WestJet. There are two terminals: Terminal 1 hosts Air Canada and other Star Alliance airlines, while Terminal 3 hosts SkyTeam and Oneworld alliance airlines, along with WestJet, Air Transat, and other unaffiliated airlines. Free WiFi internet access is available throughout both terminals.

Billy Bishop Toronto City Center Airport handles short-haul regional flights only. Its main tenant is Porter Airlines, a low-cost carrier that operates flights using turboprop planes to many cities in eastern Canada (Halifax, Moncton, Mont Tremblant, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec City, Sault Ste. Marie, St. John’s, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Timmins, Windsor) and the northeast United States (Boston, Burlington, Chicago/Midway, Myrtle Beach, New York/Newark, Pittsburgh, Washington/Dulles). Air Canada provides service to Montreal. One of the main benefits of flying into this airport is its proximity to the downtown core. Upon landing, you can be downtown within ten minutes.

Hamilton International Airport, located about 80 km from downtown Toronto and Niagara Falls, is served by WestJet and CanJet. This airport is served by the ((Hamilton Street Railway)) from the the Hamilton GO Station (36 Hunter Street East) where you can catch a GO commuter bus to Union Station in downtown Toronto. Buses run every 30 minutes.

For frugal travelers coming from the United States, Buffalo-Niagara International Airport is another option. Flights to Buffalo tend to be significantly cheaper than to Pearson. Megabus has varying prices and requires early booking. They run from the Buffalo Airport to Toronto. The trip takes 3 hours, including the border crossing. Rental cars are available at the airport if you prefer to do the drive yourself.

Once you’ve arrived, your ground transportation options include car rentals (all the majors), public transit (UP Express, TTC, Brampton Transit, MiWay, Go Transit), out-of-town van services, taxis, and limousines.

After you land in Toronto, you have the option to stay in a hotel of your choice. Hotels in Toronto have been some of the most prominent buildings in the city and the hotel industry is one of the city’s most important. The Greater Toronto Area has 180+ hotels with a total of 36,000+ rooms. Toronto is a popular tourist destination, with it having the 6th highest room occupancy rate in North America, but about two thirds of rooms are taken by commercial, government, or convention travelers. Flightsbaba has partnered with major hotels booking agencies and through hotels.rozi.com offers an insight on best hotels in the city. You can see the complete list here.
